I'm Catherine Ciocchi. I was born and raised in New York in the beautiful Hudson Valley. I'm the youngest of six children in the Miller family who spent a lot of time camping and hiking in the Catskill and Adirondack Mountains. My father, George and my mother Ruth, taught my three brothers and two sisters to appreciate a beautiful view. I enjoyed these views and the outdoors so much, I majored in geology and became an Earth Science teacher.
Rhyme is something else I love and use it to explain science concepts to my students. It takes a lot of practice and perseverance to get a rhyme just right. I'm a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators. Through this organization, I was able to find a dynamic, local organization called Children's Writers of the Hudson Valley. Being part of this group has inspired and motivated me in my writing. Every writer needs the support of a writer's group.
A ton of support comes from my husband and three grown sons. My grandchildren love my books too!

I write books that let young readers see themselves on the pages because science is everywhere!
